It’s important to have a good safety plan.

For those of you wondering about the odd placement of Gawker’s book near the Koran and pink flower-covered paperbacks about mother-inappropriate topics that I mentioned in my previous post: My local library branch is very, very small. Most of the books are children’s books, graphic novels and popular teen/adult fiction. Strangely enough, every time I go into the library it is full of people, which I guess goes to show that this library has it all figured out. Unfortunately, catering their books to the masses means that unpopular titles like female sex guides and miscalculated ventures into the print medium by British blog moguls all get shoved to one lonely shelf, behind the computers.

Well look what I found at the library today.

I found it next to the Koran and several books about “discovering the art of the female orgasm.”

Maybe it was the patriotic spirit but think I went a little “can crazy” this weekend. Shown are “Asian-inpsired pickles,” cherries infused with Grand Marnier, two types of kimchee and balsamic strawberry jam. Not shown is the bacon I am currently curing in my refrigerator and the faint look of resignation on Ben’s face when he sees me pull out my canner.

This is why 22-year-olds should not have children. Instead of thinking about caring for and raising a healthy child as best they can they think, “Oh yippe! Now we can boost our intellectual ego by doing social experiments on our helpless baby!”

It is actually a lot easier to write for free or for not enough money to live on when you are already pretty comfortable! And for some crazy reason it is always those people who are already pretty comfortable who are just baffled by the idea of paying someone to produce content that someone else profits from!
